Funding Resources

Here are some notes from Paul Hamelink's talk on funding your church planting projects.  Article

MX9 is a goal. It’s a God-sized idea to reach thousands of Americans with anointed new churches designed to build a “gospel bridge” to specific communities and people groups. The goal is simple and with God’s help it is attainable. We want to work together to see 1000 new churches planted or committed to be planted by 2009. Why this goal? Over the last 40 years the Assemblies of God has planted a cumulative average of 267 churches per year. According to Church Consultant Lyle Schaller, a church organization needs to annually plant at least 3% of their total number of churches just to stay even! That means the “break even” pace for the Assemblies of God is about 360 new churches a year. However, we don’t want to just break even…we want to unleash an exponential wave of new church plants that bring the transforming power of God into the many corners of our culture that are not being reached. For example, there are over 18,000 communities in America without an Assemblies of God church. MX9 is a plan to change that number to 17,000 over the next two years and beyond. The Church Multiplication Network is a strategy for making this God-sized idea a reality. We can do more together than we can by ourselves!  Website
