Bridging the Gap Presents...
Need Him?
IS IT TIME?
What a frantic world we live in. So much to do, so little time to do it. Homes, careers, families, and friends all require an allotment of our time each day. How is it possible that we pack so many activities into 24 hours minus the 6-8 hours we need for sleep? And, like most women, we still try to squeeze in some time each day to build ourselves up physically by running or walking a few miles, working out at the gym for an hour, or by performing some other physical task. We are constantly told that our bodies need exercise to keep them healthy. This is true. But, while we may be giving our bodies a work-out to keep them fit for action (and heaven knows we need it), our spirits are lagging behind!
Have you ever noticed that when you are emotionally drained you are physically tired no matter how fit you are? How do you handle the crisis times? What energy source do you draw from when you are hurt, lonely, afraid, or uncertain? What kinds of exercise can you perform to build up your emotional endurance? There’s not a gym available for that kind of a workout. So, how do you take time to re-charge? Do your reach for a drink or a tranquilizer? Is there a favorite TV show that brings things back into focus? (Dr. Phil, Oprah) How about meditation? What is your lifeline?
Have you ever thought about reaching out to Jesus? Or do you find him a bit too far away or impersonal? What if you could know for sure Jesus is there for you? Many women have found him to be a source of peace and hope that cannot be found anywhere else. The peace and hope that he offers are not short-lived fantasies; in fact, they have eternal roots. The peace Jesus offers is deeper than we can understand and the hope he gives is greater than we can fathom. He is the one we can count on in every situation. Maybe it’s time for Jesus.
