A Letter from liasons Lee and Sandy Allison:
Dear friends!
It is with great joy that we are writing to announce the purchase of property for establishment of the elderly care center/hospice in Kiev,Ukraine!
God planted this dream in our hearts more than three years ago and last week that dream became a reality! Located 10 miles outside Kiev city limits it is just under 2 fertile acres with an existing house and barn/garage already connected to electricity and gas as well as having a good well. It was intriguing to learn that the owner was a woman who lived in this home 85 years and had never married or had children! Her legacy will be a home/center to care for others facing the end of their lives alone as she did. As I walk the grounds and see her peonies and roses pushing upward I already sense the presence of the Lord in this place!
I marvel at God's timing! Only He could have known and planned that a team of women from the Minnesota Women's Ministry would be in Kiev the very week we completed this purchase! Having them with us turned this wonderful event into a time of celebration that blessed everyone connected with the elderly ministry - the elderly themselves, the Mercy Ladies, the church leaders, Lee and me.
I am attaching photos for you of the property and our activities with Dr. Irina and the team this past week. I think you will find the download time worthwhile when you see them! Our plan is to begin construction this summer with the goal of having the building enclosed before snowfall to allow interior work over the winter months. Because we haven't yet received all the funds (remaining $25,000) we will function in a "pay as we go" fashion supplementing with some bartered labor and materials. Already we have received 60 fruit trees from a gentleman as a tithe in kind on his business! He even spent a day with us supervising the planting!
Please pray with us for wisdom as we move ahead in this process! We earnestly long for the Lord to intervene - making our pathway straight. We earnestly long to be a light to our new neighbors. We long for the day when we will receive our first elderly friends into this new home and center! We will keep you posted on our progress in the months ahead!
Thank you for your care and for your support! We couldn't do this without you!!!!! You're the BEST!!!
Sandy Allison
