EURASIA FIELD
David & Kandra Millsaps

David and Kandra Millsaps are serving as missionaries in Lithuania. This largely Roman Catholic country which lies on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea is undergoing tremendous change. Since gaining independence from the Soviet Union 1991, the country has become sharply more western in outlook and has had positive financial changes. However, the spiritual climate has worsened over the last several years as materialism and relativism have staked their claim for the souls of Lithuanians.

The Millsaps are planting a church that addresses some of these changes. Lithuanians are people who desire deep relationships. It is out of relationships that life change occurs. "Kelyje" (which in Lithuanian means, "on the journey" or "on the road") is a church that David and Kandra planted in Vilnius in June 2006. There has been a positive response to the emphasis on relationships. David notes, "Our coffee bar, "Pakeliui," that we operate on Sundays before, during, and after our gathering, as well as on Friday evenings, has facilitated great relationships amongst church members. Additionally the relaxed setting of the gatherings acts as a catalyst for spiritual conversation openness."

Teen Challenge is a new area of ministry the Millsaps have been involved in just since 2008. This ministry to drug addicts, alcoholics, and people with life controlling problems is a highlight of the Assemblies of God's efforts in Lithuania. Currently there are three treatment centers, one reentry center, and one prevention center working with street children and teens. "God is really blessing this ministry because it is a frontline ministry out there where the darkness meets the light." David says.

Training up pastors and church leaders is also an area that the Millsaps have worked in since first arriving in Lithuania in 1998. The Vilnius Theological College (VTC) has graduated 131 students during its 13 year history. VTC plays a vital role in maintaining the purity of faith and also igniting passion for ministry within the hearts of its students. As academic dean David plays a key role in the administration and he teaches classes as well.

Kandra ministers to the women of the church by hosting a Women's Tea and a Married Women's Fellowship in her home. These are well attended and typically involve a snack, some kind of craft and some sharing as well.

The Millsaps have two daughters, Eliza and Stefanija, who are attending universities in the Twin Cities. Additional information can be found at: www.dkmillsaps.net
